It's really dumb, but I bought Coolorus only because it really annoyed me that the default HSB slider for hue was a ribbon instead of an infinite loop. Coolorus doesn't make you have better colours, you still have to do most of the work, but it behaves nicer. If you like and can use the default picker without any difficulty, then there isn't really any reason to buy Coolorus or other colour wheels, unless you want minor quality of life improvements. Post not showing up? The vile spambot has probably gobbled it up. Jokes at another person’s expense, personal attacks, flaming, derailing threads, name-calling, trolling, and generally being an asshole will get you banned. “I like the use of color” or “the legs are too short” are much more helpful than “I like it” or “I don’t like it.”īe civil. Give constructive feedback, including examples of what works or doesn’t work.

Sometimes miscommunication happens, just be cool. We are people from all over the world, of many ages, languages, cultures, and educational backgrounds who all want to improve our art. But in case anybody (programmer/coder) would be interested in turning that concept into a real color picker that will dominate every color picker that the world has seen so far, then let me know.Ībbildung_12.jpg (370.Welcome to /r/Learnart, for artists and aspiring artists of all skill levels! Helligkeit = value (or lightness/brightness)Īctually, I had an idea for a whole "3D"-Gamut HSL color slider but I don't think this is relevant here. Sorry for the German caption – here is a translation: The picture below hopefully demonstrates what I just said. HSV (aka HSB) always changes value AND chroma together if you use the so called "saturation" or "brightness" sliders. HSL sliders let you change hue, value and chroma independently. Below is a demonstration how HSL and HSV (aka HSB) sliders work. When I was a student I wrote a document about this whole issue. This is actually how HSL works (Wikipedia*) – every (light) color eventually turns into white (or the other way, into black). I don't know why they call it HCY though. Something like this would indeed be very nice.
